"We are ready for an election" - Minister Kabir Hashim

Colombo (News1st): Minister Kabir Hashim attended an event to declare open a hospital ward dedicated for the Bikkus in Walakadaya, Uthuwakanda in Mawanella. Speaking to the media following the event the Minister said that they are ready for an election as there are a number of progressive movements that are willing to join and create a broad alliance with the UNP. He noted that they (UNP) will create a place for them and also invited other parties to join them to create a front to represent the democracy in the country. When questioned regarding the symbol for the front he said that they have not yet focused on the symbol and have not finalized their decision. Minister Hashim said since they have other parties joining them, it has to be discussed if they are going to use the symbol of the elephant. He added that there is a possibility of coming up with a new symbol.
