A stock of Foreign fish seized at the BIA

Colombo (News 1st) -  The Customs seized a stock of Foreign fish smuggled into the country from Singapore. An Individual who arrived in Sri Lanka last morning (January 20) had 25 species of foreign fish and 50 turtle hatchlings concealed in his luggage. Our correspondent said, the stock of fish is worth over Rs. 500,000 and was brought down to the country by a businessman from Ambanlantota without a permit. The suspect and the stock of foreign fish were handed over to the quarantine unit at Katunayake. Further investigations into the incident are underway.
