Custom arrests an individual for smuggling 1022 live fish

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A Sri Lankan national was arrested at the BIA for attempting to smuggle 1022 live fish from Singapore. Customs Media spokesperson Sunil Jayarathne noted that the fish were brought to the country without permission of the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic resources and without a valid animal quarantine certificate. The value of the haul of live fish is over Rs. 600,000. Jayarathne further noted that measures have been taken to send the haul of fish back to Singapore.
