Colombo (News1st): Politicians of the North and the South spoke about the statement made by TNA parliamentarian M.A Sumanthiran recently. General Secretary of the Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF) V. Anandasenagaree stated that Sumanthiran's weakness is that when he takes the microphone to his hand, he speaks anything and everything. He noted that this has to be controlled and if a mistake is committed, the media will point it out. Leader of the Eelam People's Revolutionary Liberation Front (EPRLF) Suresh Premachandra noted that when the Prime Minister spoke in Parliament he mentioned black media and he said it will be revealed in the parliament. He noted that when Sumanthiran was speaking he mentioned certain media institutions by name and said that these institutions are against a solution. Premachandra added that the people who brought back Ranil Wickremesinghe stating that democracy should be protected are making these statements while attempting to control the media. He questioned; "Will the ITAK accept this statement made against the media? Will Mavai Senadhiraja accept this statement? Is this the stance of Sumanthiran as an individual or the opinion of the ITAK?"  Meanwhile, Parliamentarian S. Viyalendran making a statement regarding Sumanthiran said that on the 8th of January 2015 the government was changed, and independent networks such as Sirasa and Shakthi were involved in this. He said this media organization is with the people even during the event of a natural calamity and it has become a habit to call these media networks black media or black sheep. The MP noted that expressing such ideas is against the media freedom and it cannot be accepted. MP Sivasakthy Ananthan noted that instead of fulfilling the promises given to the Tamil people this is how Sumanthiran attacks the media networks that are reporting the truth to the Tamil people. The leader of the Tamil National People's Front Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam noted that Sumanthiran says that the media are carrying false reports regarding him, but the media showed what he said. Ponnambalam stated that Sumanthiran is trying to show the Sinhala people that he is a "good boy" and he is making these kinds of statement to show the Tamil people on this side that he is a good person. He added that there is a situation where Sumanthiran cannot go to the people without STF protection and tomorrow even with STF  protection Sumanthiran will not be able to go before people because he is lying. He noted that they will reveal all of these lies to the people. The Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa speaking in this regard said "statements are being made that there is no draft of the constitution in parliament, some are saying it is a draft, some are saying it is a proposal, so at a time when this has been presented Sumanthiran is presenting the separatist ideas they want systematically". He noted that a majority of what is mentioned in the report on the constitution was not drafted by experts, he explained that people say they were written under the guidance of Sumanthiran. Rajapaksa noted that they love this country and they are not racist. UPFA MP Shehan Semasinghe addressing the media questioned if the country is being steered by the legally appointed 30 member cabinet, or by a group of MPs led by Sumanthiran that is functioning at a level above the authority of the PM and the President. Semasinghe explained that Sumanthiran has clearly stepped on the UNP and is making statements saying that they can bring down this government in one day. The MP questioned whether the government has been able to do anything to reveal the names of the masked individuals who staged protests opposite media institutions? He questioned if the Government had even called for an investigation? He added that the black media that Ranil Wickramasinghe saw, and the black media that was subsequently seen by the Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the JVP,  is now being seen by MP Sumanthiran. The parliamentarian said that Sumanthiran names certain media organizations stating that they publish false reports, but it must be said that the people of this country have their eyes open and they have the ability to understand.   Considering all of this the question that begs to be answered, is Sumanthiran a representative of the Tamil people or a puppet of Ranil Wickremesinghe.
