COLOMBO (News 1st) – The Ministry of Finance and Mass Media states that the carbon tax will be imposed on all vehicles including those owned by the state. However, electric vehicles will be exempted from this tax.

Issuing a release the Ministry noted that the tax will be in effect from this month.

The release further noted that rumors on the state-owned vehicles being exempted from the carbon tax are false.

The tax will be charged when the revenue license of a vehicle is renewed every year.
