Travel ban imposed on President’s former Chief of Staff and former STC Chairman

Colombo (News1st): Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne imposed an overseas travel ban on President Maithripala Sirisena’s former Chief of Staff K. Mahanama and former State Timber Corporation (STC) Chairman P. Dissanayaka today (January 9). The duo were who were arrested and remanded for accepting a bribe of Rs. 20 million were granted bail on the 25th of September, 2018. The ban was imposed after the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption informed the court that the two suspects are planning to go abroad. The chief magistrate ordered that copies of the order be sent to the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration and the State intelligence service.
