Colombo (News 1st)-MP Arundika Fernando has issued an apology for sitting on the speakers' seat during the unruly behaviour that ensued within the parliamentary chambers. UPFA MP Dilan Perera speaking during yesterday's parliamentary session explained that ambassadors who were in the gallery of Parliament when the tense situation took place, proceed to clap at what was happening. He explained that usually members who are allowed to sit in the gallery are instructed not to even speak. UNP MP Mujibur Rahuman justified these actions stating that it was natural for them to clap and take photographs because the chamber resembled a zoo on that particular day. Rahuman explained that even the false Speaker who was present that day, felt uncomfortable because of these actions. UPFA MP Arundika Fernando then proceeded to extend his apologies for sitting on the seat of the speaker. He further stated that it had to be done because of the Speaker's inaction when he was informed about the two members who had entered the chamber with knives. He explained that he did not sit on the Speaker's chair when the mace of Parliament was in the chamber. He added that their only intention was to show their opposition against the actions of the speaker and went onto note that he apologises once again for his actions.
