52-year-old dies in motor accident

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A 52-year-old person died in an accident that occurred in Meerigama along the Girulla - Pasyala road this morning (January 09). Police confirmed that the accident occurred when a three-wheeler collided with a tipper truck carrying sand in Galamuna, Meerigama. The three-wheeler was plying from Colombo to Mannar. The three-wheeler collided with the tipper truck in an attempt to evade a dog that had jumped to the road. The driver of the three-wheeler, Weerasinghe Dayananda a resident of Meegahathenna, Moragoda died in the accident. The driver of the tipper truck was arrested and is due to be presented before court today (January 09).
