Speaker visits flood victims of Kilinochchi

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Speaker Karu Jayasuriya visited flood victims in Kilinochchi today (January 03). Speaking to the media he noted that they had arrived at Kilinochchi to inquire into the progress that has been made by the villagers following the floods adding that many Ministers had come to extend their brotherhood to the people. The Speaker declined to make a statement on the post of the opposition leader to the media. The speaker also participated at a special discussion which was held at the Kilinochchi District Secretariat regarding the flood situation in the area. The meeting was joined by Minister Daya Gamage, State Minister Vijayakala Maheshwaran, MPs of the TNA, several army and police officers, and government representatives. Meanwhile, Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka also visited the Kilinochchi area today (January 03). The minister who visited the Mandavalei Maha Vidyalaya had distributed school equipment to the children.
