Suspect commits suicide at Katugasthota police

COLOMBO (News 1st) - An inmate at the Katugasthota police station has reportedly committed suicide. He had hung himself by using his own clothes at around 2.00 this morning (December 31).

The deceased was a 26-year-old resident of Hapugoda, Ambathanna. His remains currently lie at the Kandy general hospital for the post-mortem examination.

the Anti-Corruption Unit of the Katugastota police last night (December 30) in Hapugoda for the possession of Ganja

. The

suspect had then

been kept

in a cell at the Police station to

be produced

before the Kandy Magistrates Court

The Police confirmed that this suspect had also

been arrested

on previous occasions for the possession of Marijuana

Investigations into the incident are currently underway.
