Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa has vowed to "take down" boxing legend Floyd Mayweather in their three-round exhibition match in Japan due to take place today (December 31).  Former five-weight world champion Mayweather will come out of retirement to fight Nasukawa over three rounds of boxing in Saitama.

At 41, Mayweather is more than twice the age of his Japanese opponent, the 20-year-old known as “Ninja Boy” but will carry a more than 4kg weight advantage into the ring. Nasukawa competes in the RIZIN Fighting Federation in both kickboxing and mixed martial arts. "People in Japan, listen. I will take down Mayweather, You should look forward to it" he said. Also speaking at a news conference, Mayweather, who beat UFC's Conor McGregor in a boxing match in August 2017, promised to "entertain". The fight is also strictly limited to boxing only — putting Nasukawa at a disadvantage, with the kickboxer reportedly liable to a $7 million fine if he aims a kick at Mayweather. The fight will take place over three rounds of three minutes but there are no judges and no winner will be declared unless there is a knockout. Both Mayweather and Nasukawa are undefeated in their respective sports but neither's perfect record will be on the line because of the exhibition nature of the bout. This is also reportedly the second time Mayweather has been coaxed out of retirement. Last year, he knocked out mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor in the 10th round of a super-hyped boxing match.
