Colombo (News1st): Identity cards were presented for the tourism-friendly three-wheelers in the Colombo area during an event today (December 29). The event took place under the auspices of Minister of Tourism Development, Wildlife and Christian Religious Affairs John Amaratunga. Minister Amaratunga stated that not everyone can obtain a ministerial portfolio after the formation of a government and this can not be seen anywhere else in the world. He added that some people will obtain it according to a tradition they have established and others can give their support to run the Government. Responding to the statement National Organizer of the All Ceylon Farmers Federation Namal Karunaratne stated that people who are over 70 and 80 should stay at home and engage in meritorious activities, they should not be given ministerial portfolios. He added that John Amaratunga does not have a pulse and this is the actual situation. Namal Karunaratne noted that this mess was created by putting old people into such positions. Karunaratne noted that there are plenty of young parliamentarians and they should be given these positions to work.
