Premier visits the Temple of the Tooth relic and Mahanayakae theros

Colombo (News1st): Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe arrived at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic today (Dec 28) to obtain blessings following his reappointment as the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister who arrived in Kandy visited the Asgiri Temple and called on the Mahanayake of the Asgiri Chapter Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thero. He then called on the Mahanayaka of the Malwatu Chapter of the Siam Sect Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Thero. Speaking to the media the Premier stated that he has held discussions with the parties in the opposition as well as the members of the United National Party to not change clause nine which deals with ensuring the place of Buddhism in our country and the unitary state of the country. The Prime Minister also took part in an alms giving to declare open a newly constructed hall in the premises of the Malwatu Temple.
