Cyber crimes on the rise

Colombo (News1st): A Provincial Computer Crimes Investigation Unit was declared open in Matara yesterday (December 24) under the auspices of Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasundara. Speaking at the event IGP Jayasundara noted that there has been a rise in Cyber-related crimes in the recent past. He added that they have taken steps to establish nine Computer Crimes Investigation Units under the purview of the Criminal Investigation Department at the provincial level. He said they are hoping to apprehend those who commit cyber crimes through these units.
