Colombo (News1st) – The Executive Committee of the UPFA gathered this morning under the patronage of President Maithrpala Sirisena at the President’s official residence.
UPFA General Secretary Mahinda Amaraweera noted that a decision was reached to convene the executive committee meeting of the UPFA once a month in light of the current political developments. He added that all members of the UPFA executive committee were present at the occasion. Responding to a question raised by a journalist, Amaraweera noted that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa did not attend the meeting as he is not a member of the committee.
When questioned about the plight of certain MPs who joined the SLPP, Amaraweera chose to evade the questions skillfully and exit the area.
UPFA MP Ranjith Siyambalapitiya speaking to the media noted that a decision was reached at the meeting to further expand the UPFA and that the division is now between those who love the country and those who don’t.
