UPFA could have defeated the vote on account - Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena

Colombo (News1st) - The Bala Mandala meeting of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Kamburupitiya electorate was held today. Addressing those gathered UPFA MP Kanchana Wijesekara noted that MPs are being sold for the highest bid. He stated that the people were able to see the manner in which many MPs crossed over from one side to the other on multiple occasions. He noted that the actions of these MPs are being prompted by money and not their principles UPFA MP Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena stated that the UNP claimed when they went before court that they had the support of 122 members in Parliament, adding that they received only 102 votes in support of the Vote on Account which was passed in Parliament. He claimed that their bloc has 105 seats and that they could have easily defeated the vote on account but did not do so in order to ensure that the public sector does not loose their salaries at the beginning of the year. Abeywardene went onto note that they are now panicked by court verdicts and stated that sometimes they believe what Ranjan Ramanayake could be true.
