Colombo (News1st) – A strike action has been launched by SLTB and private bus drivers of Welimada due to a clash that had occurred last evening (December 19).
The protest was launched following the death of a private bus driver. The clash had ensued over an issue relating to bus timetables.
As a result, there are no buses traveling from Welimada to Nuwara Eliya, Bandarawela, Badulla, Boralanda and Buruthalawa.
When News 1st made inquiries, the Police confirmed that four SLTB drivers were arrested in connection to the clash. Two of the arrested individuals have been admitted to the Diyatalawa Base hospital due to injuries.
The two other suspects are due to be presented before the Welimada Court today (December 20).
