COLOMBO (News 1st) – A 60-year-old resident of Wellampitiya was taken into custody of customs at the BIA today (December 20) while attempting to smuggle gold into the country. The individual arrived from Singapore.

Nine gold chains weighing over a kilogram was seized from his possession. The seized chains are valued at over Rs. 900,000. The gold was confiscated and the suspect was fined Rs. 500,000.
