SLFP MP will assume their seats in the opposition - Muthuhettigama

Colombo (News1st) - MPs of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party met with President Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat this evening. The MPs spoke to the media as they were exiting the secretariat. MP Nishantha Muthuhettigama noted that the "group of 21" (SLFP MPs) have decided to sit in the opposition and that their decision would be confirmed by the SLFP's Central Committee. Muthuhettigama denied that they would accept any positions from the new Government but did state that they expect to demand the position of Opposition leader. When asked who would be appointed to this post, the MP evaded the question. MP M.L.A.M. Hizbullah speaking to the media also stated that they have decided to assume seats in the opposition and demand for the positions of Opposition leader and Chief Opposition Whip.
