Government will be toppled when the time comes - MR

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa addressed the public at his Carlton residence in Tangalle today (December 16). Politicians and party supporters of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna gathered at the residence this afternoon. Later the Maha Sangha extended their blessings to Mahinda Rajapaksa. Addressing those gathered, Former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa said that they had analyzed the condition of the country and had realized the repercussions that would come about if the power struggle continued. He added that he is not concerned by the resignation because he knows that his supporters stand by him. The Former President also wished Ranil Wickremesinghe but stated that the country should now be rescued from him. He continued to say that they toppled the Government as promised and went onto assure the people that they will do so once again. Mahinda Rajapaksa also said that this government is trying to take control of the media and that some of the Ministers had said that they will look into the news items reported by certain media. Also addressing the public, UPFA MP, Dullas Alahapperuma said that Ranil Wickremesinghe had taken oaths for the third time before the President. MP Dullas explained that soon after being sworn in on the 9th of January 2015 the first central bank bond scam took place, he went onto note that after being sworn in once again in August 2015 the second central bank bond scam took place. The UPFA MP notes that they will keep a close watch on the Central Bank this time around. While stating that until yesterday Ranil Wickremesinghe did not recognise the legitimacy of Mahinda Rajapaksa's premiership, the UPFA MP questioned as to why Wickremesinghe took oaths today as PM?
