COLOMBO (News 1st) - Members from various political parties expressed various ideas on TNA supporting the United National Party.

United Peoples Freedom Alliance

UPFA MP Susil Premajayantha states that Ranil Wickremesinghe now speaks of bringing in a new constitution while protecting the unity and abolishing the executive powers. He continued to say that the Tamil community is now questioning from the TNA what benefit they derived from supporting Ranil Wickremesinghe adding that when the TNA has been thrown into a political problem, Ranil Wickremesinghe wants to help them. UPFA MP Mahinda Yapa said that Ranil Wickremesinghe in the agreement with the TNA had not agreed to build separate states with separate powers. He continued to say that they have promised to abolish the executive powers of the President, which means that this will not be a unitary government. Yapa accused Ranil Wickremesinghe of taking the first step to make this a reality.

United National Party

UNP MP Mayantha Dissanayake said that there is a rumor that the UNP and TNA have reached an agreement to take over the country adding that they will not accept such an agreement. He continued to say that the TNA has made some requests and that one of them is to prioritize the development in North while the other was to release their lands. Mayantha Dissanayake added that the TNA has only agreed to help the UNP form a stable government. He added that they (TNA) will not receive any ministerial positions and that they will act independently.
