Water wastage leads to potential hike in water tariffs

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Auditor General Gamini Wijesinghe notes that if the wastage of water is controlled there would be no requirement to increase water tariffs. He further said that a possible tariff hike was confirmed after an audit was conducted. The Auditor General added that the Water Board also incurs massive losses due to project estimations made higher than the actual expenditure for certain projects.
