UNP hands over motion to Speaker against 5 governement officials

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The United National Party handed over a motion to Speaker Karu Jayasuriya requesting that five government officials including the Secretary to the Prime Minister be summoned before the parliamentary privileges committee and the finance committee. UNP MP Patali Champika Ranawaka speaking to the media said that they had brought proposals on the 29th and the 30th of last month against the expenditure of the Prime Minister and the cabinet ministers of the previous government and that it was passed. He continued to say that the submission of today's motion is the third part of that process where they have filed proposals against five officials. Further, he added that if these mentioned officials have not acted in accordance with the motions that were passed on the 30th the parliament has the power to take action against them.
