Judiciary should be able to challenge state policies - Sajith Premadasa

COLOMBO (News 1st) - At the Kosgama Bala mandala meeting of the UNP held this evening (December 09) of the Deputy Leader of the UNP Sajith Premadasa commented on the current political unrest. He said that after they win the battle that there will be a large number of activities that they will have to attend to. Sajith Premadasa continued to say that initially, they will have to remove the clause mentioning that the state policy cannot be challenged before the judiciary. He said that they were present in courts today (December 09) because their cabinet was wrongfully dismissed. He added that similarly, when the government fails to provide services to its people, the public must be empowered to represent themselves in court and challenge the government, claiming the rights, reliefs, and strengths that they are entitled to receive.
