COLOMBO (News 1st) - Speaking at a press briefing held today (December 09) Former Media Secretary of Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, revealed certain details on events that had occurred at the time of the Presidential elections held back in 2010. Ranil Wickremesinghe and Sarath Fonseka  The former secretary Sanjeewa Samarasinghe said that when Sarath Fonseka had been nominated for Presidential elections Ranil Wickremesinghe had paid a visit along with several leading businessmen at the Cambridge terrace. Samarasinghe said that these businessmen had contributed funds for the expenses of the elections activities which were handed over to Ranil Wickremesinghe who in turn had given it over to Malik Samarawickrama. The former media secretary continued to say that out of these funds the Field Marshal was granted only Rs. 5 million which again Ranil Wickremesinghe had collected on the evening of the same day stating that bills due from another organization must be paid. He said that it was at that point that Sarath Fonseka had discovered that the whole thing was a lie and had thrown the stocks of cash saying that he will no longer continue to have any dealings with Ranil Wickremesinghe which is when Wickremesinghe had started his path of obstructing Fonseka from succeeding at the elections. Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka's former media secretary continued to say that for the election results they had booked into a five star hotel and that when nearly three fourth of the results were out Ranil Wickremesinghe came in and said that he was to go into the restroom and that instead he had gone to the second floor and spoken to the media saying that the elections were conducted fairly and had left the building. Ranil Wickremesinghe and Late Major General Janaka Perera  Further, he said that (Late Major General) Janaka Perera had also faced a similar incident. The Former Media Secretary said that this incident occurred two weeks prior to the North Central provincial council elections where Janaka Perera had said that he did not have enough cash to fund his campaign and had asked for Rs. 6 million from the funds that Wickremesinghe had obtained through his nominations. To which Ranil Wickremesinghe had replied that he should have some rest and that since he (Janaka) had already won the elections that he cannot give him that money after which Janaka Perera had left the building accusing Ranil Wickremesinghe. Sanjeewa Samarasinghe noted that these incidents leave a big question mark on the death of Janaka Perera.
