Colombo (News 1st) – The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna convened a media briefing today (Dec 08) and spoke about Ranil Wickremesinghe occupying the temple trees.
JVP MP Bimal Rathnayake stated that two to three weeks ago, a State Minister of the United National Party had noted that Mahinda Rajapaksa has told Ranil Wickremesinghe to occupy temple trees and that it will not be an issue. Rathnayake added that according to the information they have received, Wickremesinghe is at Temple Trees with the blessings of Mahinda Rajapaksa.
He went on to state that the JVP’s stance is to protect democracy and not to support anyone or be a part of the battle between Prime Ministers. MP Bimal stated that forming a government is the duty of the parties that are capable of showing a majority and that it is not their responsibility.
