Over 8000 complaints on child rights violations

Colombo (News1st): The National Child Protection Authority of Sri Lanka states that they have received over 8,000 complaints regarding child rights violations during the past year. Director-General Anoma Siriwardena said that the authority received over 900 complaints each month. Complaints received include the abuse of children, sexually abusive behavior, cruelty, child labor, and the loss of children from the protection of their parents. She said immediate action has been taken regarding such complaints. Further complaints can be lodged via the hotline 1929.
