Cabinet paper to extend Suraksha insurance to 2019

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Education announced that a cabinet paper has been submitted to extend the Suraksha insurance for the next year as well. This insurance is provided to school children. The Ministry has adviced school principals to accept the insurance applications from children joining Grade 01 in the year 2019. Additional Secretary to the Ministry M.M. Ratnayake said that after obtaining the approval that benefits of the insurance could be provided without any interruption. However, the period of validity of this insurance scheme ended on the 30th of August 2018 due to which teachers unions accuse that their might be issues in the payment of benefits.
