A shortage of maintenance personnel at the Railway Dept

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Essential maintenance required along railway tracks has come to a standstill due to the absence of a sufficient workforce at the Department of Railways for maintenance activities. Railways General Manager, Dilantha Fernando said a workforce of atleast 20,000 personnel is required for these tasks whereas the department has only 14,000 maintenance personnel.
