Parliament to convene at 10.30 AM

Colombo (News1ts): Parliament is set to convene once again at 10.30 AM today (November 29). A party leaders meeting chaired by Speaker Karu Jayasuriya is set to take place at 9.30 AM. The office of the speaker said that leaders of all political parties in parliament have been invited to attend the meeting. When News1st inquired on the matter from Minister Dinesh Gunawardena he said that political party leaders from the governing faction have been invited for the party leaders meeting. He added, however, that a decision on if the governing faction attending the party leaders meeting and the parliamentary sessions for the day will be decided following the parliamentary group meeting that is scheduled at 8.30 AM. The Public Gallery and the Special Invitees Gallery will be closed when the Parliament convenes today. Speaking to News1st, Deputy General Secretary of Parliament Neil Iddawela noted the entire parliamentary complex will be out-of-bounds for the general public except to the media. He added that steps have been taken to deploy the police for security at the parliamentary premises.
