CFO of Litro Gas reveals shady dealing with a Venerable Thero

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Chief Financial Officer of Litro Gas Company Muditha Harshajith in his testimony before the Permanent High Court Trial at Bar said Litro Gas funds were used to pay transport allowances for 39 separate individuals including Venerable Dambara Amila Thero, Justin Galappatti and Janaka Mallawarachchi. The CFO testified that as he had not approved these payments that all the payments were made via a secret account maintained by Litro Gas Company. He went on to state that since 2016 Litro Gas had paid a transport allowance of Rs. 95,000 per month to Venerable Dambara Amila Thero. He continued to say that the Ministry of Finance had requested the Company Management via a letter to pay Rs. 100,000 as transport allowance to the Venerable thero and that when he was informed by the management he did not approve the payments. The CFO of Litro Gas was cross-examined by Presidents Council Alisabry. The case filed against Former President's Chief of Staff Gamini Senarath and three others for the criminal misappropriation of Rs. 500 Million from Litro Gas Company was also taken up today (November 29).
