Ministry optimistic on vegetable prices being normalized in future

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Agriculture has announced that there is no initiative to import vegetables into the country. Subject Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said that the supply of vegetables has decreased due to the prevailing weather. However, he was optimistic that the situation will return to normal in the upcoming weeks. Traders in the Manning Market in Colombo noted that a kilogram of Carrot and Capsicum each is priced at over Rs. 300, while a kilogram of green chilli is priced at above Rs. 500; a drastic increase compared to the price in the recent past.
