COLOMBO (News 1st) – Labourers attached to Tea Estates across a number of districts including Matale, Nuwara Eliya and Kandy have launched a token strike demanding their daily wage to be increased up to Rs. 1000
The protests held today forced authorities to temporarily shut down vehicular movement along the main road in Hali-Ela.
The labourers said they would decide on continuing with their strike depending on the outcome of the meeting between trade unions and tea estate owners.
