Read the 'Unsuccessful Political Journey with Ranil' in January - President

Colombo (News 1st) - President Maithripala Sirisena spoke on the current political situation in the country and responded to accusations levelled at him, at the Presidential Rajatha Jayanthi Awards Ceremony yesterday (November 23). Addressing the event he stated that on the 8th of January 2015, the people of this country elected him as the President. He then stated that yesterday in Parliament, throughout the entire day he witnessed UNP members isolating themselves and playing alone on their own field. Through their speeches,  he stated that he witnessed how they have turned him into their plaything when he is not present in parliament. He then spoke about the MP's basing much of their Parliament discussion regarding the book that was authored by his daughter, titled 'Janaadhipathi Thaththa'. He then asks the politicians not to be hasty and judgemental for he will be publishing a book titled the 'Unsuccessful Political Journey with Ranil' in January. He then stated that throughout the years he has been criticised, however that when it comes to politics he strives to bring about a better tomorrow for Sri Lanka. He adds that the people who see him as a bad person today will see him as the better person tomorrow or in the future. He stated that he has only two things to lose in this fight. He added that he has gladly made up his mind to lose both of them. One being losing his position as President and the other being his life. He further stated that he has faith in the public, who prays for the betterment of Sri Lanka. He then stated that he is ready to debate with any senior politician regarding what is right and wrong for the country. He goes on to explain that those with dirty hands will not be a challenge for people with clean hands. He concludes saying "I am not a person who came for power, I am a person who came to leave power behind. I am not a person who is looking to stay. I am a person who will do what needs to be done in the time that I am here and then happily depart."
