"Plans to appreciate the rupee to 160" - Min. Bandula Gunawardena

Colombo (News1st): Minister of International Trade and Investment Promotion Bandula Gunawardena said the government is preparing a plan to prevent the further depreciation of the rupee. He added that they are also working towards appreciating it to Rs. 160 against the Dollar within a year. Minister Gunawardena stated this while addressing a media briefing held at the SLPP office in Battaramulla. On friday (November 23) the rupee depreciated to a record low of Rs. 180.66 against the dollar.
