PM Rajapaksa to revive SL Tourism industry

Colombo (News 1st) - Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse has advised officials to start a new promotional campaign to revive Sri Lanka's tourism and to attract foreign tourists into the country. The Prime Minister's office said the premier, had given these instructions at a special discussion with professionals and businessmen in the tourism industry. They have briefed the Prime Minister that the industry has collapsed due to the prevailing crisis in the tourism industry, due to the slow progress of the propaganda activities carried out by Sri Lanka. Therefore, the Prime Minister has emphasized at this discussion that this situation should be avoided and special attention was given to high taxation on tourism. Prime Minister Rajapaksa has instructed to commence a special program to provide direct and indirect employment opportunities in the tourism sector.
