Colombo (News1st): UNP National Organizer Parliamentarian Navin Dissanayake said their goal is to operate as the majority in Parliament and not the fact that Ranil Wickremesinghe should be made Prime Minister. He made this statement when he and several other MP's of the UNP called on the Mahanayakas in Kandy today (November 20). Speaking to the Anunayake of the Malwathu Chapter of the Siam Sect, MP Dissanayake said the UNP does not fear a General Election but would rather a Presidential and Parliamentary election to be held together. In a meeting with the Mahanayake of the Asgiri Chapter of the Siam Sect, MP Dissanayake said their demand is for a vote in Parliament and if such a vote cannot take place then democracy should be questioned. He noted that the General elections cannot be held as the supreme court had legally accepted the UNP's argument and had halted the election.
