COLOMBO (News 1st) – Speaker Karu Jayasuriya says that he stands by the proposal that was signed by 122 MPs and that he considers the voice of a majority in a democratic manner. This was in response to a letter by the President to the speaker.

Further, the speaker noted that he acts in accordance with his conscious.

He stressed that the 122 MPs who voted in favour of the no-confidence motion yesterday were in the Parliamentary chamber at the time and among were several Ministers and MPs of the government.

The speaker requests the President not to further delay matters and to pay heed to the majority voice in Parliament and to act fast in order to save the nation from destruction.
