'GAJA' to intensify

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Met department warns that cyclonic storm ‘GAJA’, currently located approximately 480km away from Kankasanturai, is very likely to move west-southwestwards and intensify into a severe cyclone during the next six hours. The system is predicted to cross the South Tamil Nadu coast and move closer to the northern coast of Sri Lanka during the course of the day (November 15). Under the influence of this system, strong showers and windy conditions are expected to enhance over the Northern province from this evening. Showers are also predicted to occur in the Anuradhapura and Puttalam districts.
