Speaker should accept responsibility of this crisis - Shan Wijayalal

Colombo (News 1st) - Several politicians expressed their views on Saturday (Nov 10) regarding the present political climate of the country. Chief Minister of Southern Province Shan Wijayalal De Silva stated that the constitutional crisis was created by the speaker himself and he must accept responsibility. He goes on to state that the story of 'Yahaplanaya' began three years ago on the 8 January 2015, and a careful assessment of the time period would reveal whether the UNP acted in the best interests of good governance during the past. UNP MP Nalin Bandara voiced his thoughts stating that the parliament has been dissolved in an unconstitutional and controversial manner and that they hope to address this issue through judicial procedure. He also noted that they are prepared for an election. UPFA MP Chandima Weerakkody stated that the people will decide and that they invite the UNP to accept the people's verdict. UNP Parliamentarian S.M. Marikkar stated that the public complained for the past three and half years that the number of culprits jailed was insufficient and now the individual who was jailed for giving houses to his relatives have been sworn in as minister of housing. Going on he noted that the culprit who stole from 'Sathosa' has been appointed as the minister of 'Sathosa' and that it is quite evident as to who protected these thieves.
