Tax Appeals Commission revived

Colombo (News1st): The Finance Ministry issued a release today (November 08) stating that The Tax Appeals Commission (TAC) which has been inactive for some time has now been revived. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs has appointed new members to the commission. Justice Hector Yapa has been appointed as the Chairman of the Tax Appeals Commission and Justice Sunil Rajapakse and Former Auditor General S. Swarnajothi have been appointed as its members. The Tax appeals commission would facilitate a more expeditious resolution of disputes that may arise between the tax payer and the Commissioner General of Inland Revenue (CGIR) or the Director-General of Customs.
