Rainfall to continue over the island

COLOMBO (News1st) - The Department of Meteorology states that owing to the low-pressure condition developing over the Southern Bay of Bengal that rainfall and cloudy conditions are expected to continue over the island. Fairly strong gusty winds up to 40-50 kmph can be expected particularly over the Northern region. Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern, Eastern, North-central, North-western, Central, and Uva provinces while heavy rainfall of about 100mm is forecasted in other regions. Meanwhile, the National Building Research Organization stated that landslide warnings have been issued for the Ratnapura, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, and Matale Districts.
