"I will definitely stand with the President" - Ven Athuraliye Rathana Thero

COLOMBO (News 1st) - MP Venerable Athuraliye Rathana Thero made an announcement that he will be supporting the current caretaker government and the President. Addressing a media briefing held in Colombo today (November 04) he stated that soon after the appointment of the previous Government in 2015, the massive bond scam took place in the country. The thero noted that former PM Ranil Wickremesinghe should be held fully responsible for the matter because the governor of the CBSL appointed by him is still nowhere to be found. Venerable Athuraliye Rathana Thero said that when there were a lot of cases filed against the Singapore agreement that Former Minister Mangala Samaraweera had ignored all of that and unilaterally issued gazettes for tax relief according to the Singapore FTA. He added that it is after taking all these matters into consideration that he had decided to support the President's decision to appoint a new Prime Minister. "Even though I support the government I will sit in the opposition. I will work as an independent parliamentarian" added Venerable Athuraliye Rathana Thero.
