COLOMBO (News 1st) – Issuing a press release, Spokesperson for the US State Department, Heather Nauert states that the US continues to follow the recent developments in Sri Lanka with concern.
Nauert continues to urge that all political sides refrain from intimidation and violence.
The US Department of State has requested, president Maithripala Sirisena in consultation with the speaker to immediately reconvene parliament.
The release further reads that the democratically elected representatives of the Sri Lankan people should be allowed to fulfill their responsibility to affirm who will lead their government.
