CPC trade unions demand Ranathunge’s arrest

COLOMBO (News 1st) – Several trade unions of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation have commenced a strike action demanding the arrest of former Minister Arjuna Ranathunge (October 29).

Speaking to News 1st, Deputy Chairman of the Nidahas Sevaka Sangamaya, S.K.S Premarathna stated that owing to the actions of Arjuna Ranatunga, distribution activities of the CPC have been completely halted.

Premaratne continued to say that all the trade unions from CPC and CPSTL have commenced an islandwide strike action in order to strictly condemn the actions of former Minister Arjuna Ranatunga. He continued to say that he doubts whether the law will be implemented in the same biased manner as in the previous government when taking care of the matter.

Deputy President, S.K.S Premarathna added that the fuel distribution will only be sufficient for the next few hours after which fuel will be over at fuel stations due to the long queues of people that had flocked at the petrol stations since last night.
