Colombo (News1st) - Yesterday the Hindu Newspaper reported that at Tuesday’s (Oct 16) cabinet meeting, President Maithripala Sirisena reportedly said “the Indian national must be a RAW agent trying to kill me. As soon as this news report was published the President's Office, Secretary to the Cabinet of Ministers, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs refuted the claim. MALICIOUS REPORT President Maithripala Sirisena spoke with the Indian Prime Minister over the phone regarding this. Issuing a media release the Indian Prime Ministers Office has identified these reports as malicious. The release issued by the Indian Prime Minister's Office says the Sri Lankan President mentioned that the mischievous and malafide reports were utterly baseless and false. At present, the President, and the Indian Prime Minister and several other institutions have refuted these reports. However, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe remains silent on the issue. Today the Prime Minister along with Ministers Sagala Ratnayake and Malik Samarawickreme went to India. The spokesperson to the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Sri Lankan Prime Minister will call on the Indian Prime Minister as well. We spoke to the Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister Saman Athaudahetti, and the Prime Ministers Media Secretary to ask for a comment about this. Both of these gentlemen said that this matter does not involve the Prime Ministers Office. They did not provide any further clarification into the matter. The question at hand is how did details of the cabinet meeting leak into the hands of a foreign media institution. Is there a hidden force attempting to create a crisis among two countries and two state leaders. A DELIBERATE ATTEMPT  SLFP media spokesperson Min. Mahinda Samarasinghe addressing a media briefing today stated that this was an organized attempt at creating chaos between two countries. Citing the media report published on the Hindu, the minister stated that a number of ministers had shared the information with the journalist, he questioned whether these particular individuals have the backbone to come before the public and claim that they gave the information. Min. Samarasinghe noted that these persons had acted to break the relationship that Sri Lanka has with India adding that they have degraded the president as well. The journalist from the Hindu Newspaper Meera Srinivasan says she has used sources including four ministers to confirm this. Who are these sources? There is a very simple course of action that the Government could take, order the CID to investigate the matter. The CID could easily identify who leaked the information by analyzing phone call logs. The Hindu newspaper journalist was at the cabinet media briefing yesterday as well. We have a serious question ask the Minister of Law and Order. Why isn't an investigation being launched under the CID into this? Isn't this a conspiracy to create a turmoil between two countries? Involving the President and the Indian Prime Minister? If the same thing happened in India they would have taken action immediately and there are multiple examples from India to back this claim. Again the question, What action will be taken against the Hindu Newspaper for publishing, as Indian officials have claimed, malicious reports? Who handed this information to the journalist from the Hindu Newspaper? Why is the Prime Minister silent? NATIONAL SECURITY RISK There is another important factor here. Wimal Weerawansa yesterday spoke about the Indian National who has been arrested in connection to the assassination plot. He divulged information that this person was from RAW. He mentioned his badge number issued by RAW as well. However, there has been no comment on this from the Indian side. When this Indian National was arrested the Indian High Commission was quick to issue a statement noting that the said person was mentally ill. It is not too late, the Indian High Commission can still provide a statement denying the claims that MP Wimal Weerawansa has made. This is a threat to National Security, the law should be enacted on all those who are involved in this. No one is about the law. Even the international community is watching to see what happens. ALL THIS SHOULD BE Revealed TO THE PEOPLE OF THE COUNTRY.
