UPDATE : Johnston Fernando acquitted

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Former Minister Johnston Fernando and two other defendants were acquitted by the Kurunegala High Court this morning (October 17). Speaking to News 1st Defense Counsel Lakmal Rathnayake stated the High Court Judge considered a request made by the Defense claiming the prosecution did not have a case to carry forward against the Defence. Attorney At Law Rathnayake said the case was dismissed and the defendants were acquitted as there weren't sufficient evidence against them. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11.06 am -  Former Minister and UPFA MP Johnston Fernando and two other defendants who were remanded for the misuse of Sathosa material were acquitted and released by the Kurunegala High Court. The order was issued by Kurunegala High Court Judge Menaka Wijesundara.
