Kitazono claims five artistic gymnastic golds at Youth Olympics

Reuters: Japan's Takeru Kitazono claimed his fourth and fifth artistic gymnastics gold medals at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Monday (October 15). The 15-year-old started off the final day of gymnastics competition by winning the parallel bars with a score of 14.166 for his fourth gold medal. China's Yin Dehang finished second with 13.800 and Russia's Sergei Naidin took bronze with 13.633. Rounding off the apparatus finals, Kitazono, who turns 16 on October 21, produced another stylish performance to claim a fifth gold medal in the horizontal bar with a score of 13.566. Brazil's Diogo Soares and Krisztian Balazs of Hungary finished in second and third respectively with scores of 13.266 and 13.233. Kitazono, nicknamed in Japan the "new Uchimura" in reference to triple Olympic champion Kohei Uchimura, had earlier won the all-round title as well as golds in the floor exercise and the rings.
