Constitutional Council approves President's nominee for chief Justice

Colombo (News 1st) - The Constitutional Council has approved the nominee of President Maithripala Sirisena for the post of Chief Justice of Sri Lanka. President Sirisena speaking at an event this afternoon in Battaramulla said that he inquired on the personal, professional and educational details of all the justices serving in the Supreme Court. He went on to state that the appointment must be based on seniority in service and that for the first time in 30 years, he will be appointing a Chief Justice based on seniority.
