Thebuwana Police sergeant granted bail

Colombo (News1st): The police sergeant attached to the Thebuwana police, involved in a stand-off with police and STF, was released on surety bail by the Mathugama Magistrates Court today (October 09). The sergeant in question acted in an unruly manner recently opposite the police station with a firearm in hand. The case was postponed to the 11th of December. The sergeant's actions were prompted by the OIC of the Thebuwana Police releasing a Tipper Truck transporting sand illegally which was originally apprehended by the Police Sergeant in question. Thereafter he had acted in an unruly manner with a firearm and was arrested and remanded until today (October 09).
